A Fun Website to Peruse
A friend recently sent me a link that I thought was too good to keep to myself, so here I am, sharing it with you!
It's the website of the Pratt Institute Library, and specifically their collection of 19th and 20th Century Ex Libris, or more commonly, bookplates. The collection currently contains some 1, 264 ex libris, many of which are heraldic.
To whet your appetite, here's just two heraldic ex libris from their collection.
I've not at this time gone through the entire collection, but I plan on making the time to do so, if only to get inspired to create some more heraldic bookplates of my own. It's wonderful today what you can create with a computer and just a fairly basic graphics program. As an example, here's my current favorite, created on the same computer I'm using to write this post:
So go out to the Pratt Institute Library site and become inspired! The URL for their collection of bookplates is https://www.flickr.com/photos/prattinstitutelibraries/albums/72157613160345964 (You can also find this link in the section on the left-hand side of this blog under "Websites of Heraldic Interest.")
